The North Metro Healthcare Awards luncheon honors individuals and companies that are making an impact on the overall health of the community they serve or their company employees.

Curtis Barnett was selected by the Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield board of directors as the president and chief executive officer-elect and assumed that position on January 1, 2017. Curtis joined Arkansas Blue Cross in 1993. Most recently, he has served as senior vice president of Enterprise Internal Operations where he was responsible for all aspects of operations for Arkansas Blue Cross, including claims administration, customer accounts, customer service, membership, service management, system configuration, and training and development for the company and its affiliates which includes Arkansas Blue Cross Regular Business, BlueCard®, BlueAdvantage Administrators of Arkansas, BlueAdvantage National Accounts and Health Advantage products. He has served as president and chief executive officer and as a member of the board of directors of USAble Corporation since 2008. Curtis began his career with Arkansas Blue Cross as a Primary Care Network plan manager. He has served in a variety of capacities during his tenure with the company, including manager of Product Development and director of the Enterprise Managed Pharmacy Program. He assumed responsibility for the operations of BlueAdvantage in 1999. A native of Sherwood, Arkansas, Curtis received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, a master’s degree from the University of Arkansas and is a graduate of the Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management’s Advanced Executive Program. He also has earned several professional designations, including the Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) and the Professional in the Academy of Healthcare Management (PAHM).
